Symptoms: When I type, nothing happens. When I press the modifier keys, the lights don't come on. What to do: 1) Make sure your iFrog is charged up. Check that the charging light is lit when the iFrog is being charged to demonstrate that there isn't a power problem. 2) Check that the self-test process completes successfully when the iFrog is switched on. The lights on the iFrog should light up in a clockwise pattern. 3) Make sure your iFrog is paired up with the host device. The modifier key lights will not light up if there is no communication with a host device. 4) Ensure that you are in range of the host device. The iFrog has a range of 10 meters maximum, with this range affected by any obstacles between the iFrog and the host device. 5) If possible, test on another Bluetooth enabled computer to identify whether the fault is on the iFrog or the host device. 6) Check if there have been any similar problems reported on the forums - these may provide a solution. 7) Email technical{@}frogpad.com for further advice (remove the curly brackets). Summary: All the lights flash on and off when I switch my iFrog on. Symptoms: The lights flash on and off in a clockwise pattern. What do do: The flashing lights are meant to do that. This is the iFrog doing a self-test. Keywords: Summary: Not all of the lights flash on and off when I switch my iFrog on! [yeayea69] Symptoms: The Space and Enter key lights don't flash up on the self-test. What to do: This is normal. "Since we use the same key caps for both left and right, the keycap requires a position for the light, although there is no lamp underneath. Neither SPACE or ENTER require a light" [Linda] Summary: My Bluetooth FrogPad is stuck in a strange state. [wren, paulrl] Symptoms: Symbol and Number are lit, and key presses have no visible effect. The on/off switch also does not work. Pressing the pairing button with a paper clip makes the charging led blink, but pairing fails and the iFrog remains in that catatonic state. What to do: The batteries are low. Recharge the iFrog. [wren] [b]Pairing:[/b] Summary: I'm trying to pair my iFrog but I can't get into number mode. Symptoms: I press the number button to get the iFrog into number mode, but the light does not light up. What to do: Make sure that the pairing operation is initiated from the host device. The lights on the iFrog won't light up if there is no communication with the host device, so the host device has to establish link before the iFrog will respond. Summary: My pairing key doesn't work. Symptoms: I type in a passphrase like the instructions tell me to, but the pairing gets refused. What to do: The passkey has to be numeric - no letters or symbols will be recognised. When pairing, enter the number on the host device, then press the number key on the FrogPad so the light on the number key lights up, enter the same number on both devices and make sure you press the Enter key on the iFrog. You won't need to remember this number again so make up anything you like. Summary: My Bluetooth equipped PDA/Computer/mobile phone doesn't work with the iFrog. Symptoms: The device says it can see the iFrog and even say it has paiih the iFrog, but then nothing else happens. What to do: Many devices don't support the HID (Human Interface Device) protocols which the iFrog uses to tell the device what key you just pressed. In some cases, a software driver can be downloaded onto the device to support HID, although the drivers may not always be available. Check on the forums to see if there is a suitable driver for your device. If there isn't, make a request to LeapFrog on the "HID DRIVER UPDATES - Mobile OS Platform HID Driver Feedback" forum thread in Froggy Chat. Summary: My iFrog doesn't work between devices. Symptoms: I paired my iFrog to the Bluetooth adaptor on my desktop, but when I put the adaptor in my laptop, it doesn't work. What to do: The iFrog is paired to a device and not a Bluetooth adaptor, so transferring putting the Bluetooth adaptor into a different machine will not let you used iFrog immediately - you still have to pair again. on another machine won't work. Summary: I've paired by iFrog to a PDA but when I switch either of them off, the pairing is lost. [kcraine, paulrl, computercolin, many others] Symptoms: I pair my iFrog and PDA, but I have to re-pair when the iFrog goes to sleep or either device is switched off. What to do: This occurs on early versions of some HID drivers for PDAs. Later versions of the driver should address this problem. [LeapFrog] Summary: When I try to pair my iFrog on my Apple Macintosh G5, I get a "Cannot Validate Device" message. [larryapple] Symptoms: The device name displayed by the G5 is an unreadable mess, I sometimes get "Device does not have the necessary services", sometimes it never finishes validating the device and the connection is lost. What to do: Make sure the Bluetooth antenna is connected. [larryapple] [b]USB FrogPad Specific:[/b] Summary: My USB FrogPad doesn't work on Windows 98. [jsampson] Symptoms: The iFrog works on other computers. What to do: You'll need to be using Windows 98 SE (Second Edition) otherwise USB is not supported. Make sure your Bluetooth adaptor is supported by Windows 98 SE and that the drivers are up to date. [LeapFrog] Summary: I tried to set up my USB FrogPad but Windows 98SE asks for a disc and I haven't got one. [jsampson] Symptoms: I plug in the FrogPad, a "Found New Hardware" message pops up and installs drivers, a message to insert the Windows 98 cd comes up and I have no idea what it wants from me. If you haven't got a CD then the installation CAB files SHOULD be copied to your hard drive. Search for them with "dir \*.cab /s/p". When the installation prompts you for the CD, point it to the directories you found. Hopefully the missing drivers are in there... [jacob00] Summary: The USB FrogPad (blue version) isn't accepting my pairing code. [jjinaus] Symptoms: On pairing, I type my numeric pairing code in, but I get a Pairing Refused message. What to do: When pairing on the Frogpad, press the number key on the iFrog (so the light comes on) and enter the number, press the number key again to turn the light *off* then press enter. [pmptg] [b]Bluetooth Connection problems:[/b] Summary: I installed my Bluetooth driver on Windows XP2 and now I can't pair my iFrog with my Windows machine anymore. [jjinaus] Symptoms: It worked before, I installed SP2, it doesn't work now. What to do: it appears that if you install a dongle with its drivers, it competes with XP Service Pack 2, Removing the Widcomm software (software that comes with the dongle) and installing XP Service Pack 2 seems to be the perfect solution. [Linda] Summary: I lose my Bluetooth connection when my Apple OS X computer goes to sleep. [mommsen] Symptoms: The iFrog works fine until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. What to do: Update the Bluetooth Firmware on the computer, downloadable from the Apple website at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bluetoothfirmwareupdater.html (this only applies to the D-Link USB and interal Bluetooth adapters for OS X 10.2.8 or later with Bluetooth Update 1.3.3 or for Mac OS X 10.3.3 and later. it is not recommended for 10.3, 10.3.1 or 10.3.2) [mommsen] Summary: My Bluetooth won't work on my Macintosh anymore. Symptoms: iFrog doesn't work. Getting the computer to talk to a telephone over Bluetooth doesn't work. My mobile telephone can't see the computer. The About This Mac doesn't even say there is any Bluetooth firmware there at all and I know it was there before! What to do: "Once I had my bluetooth completely disappear on me. The machine acted as though no bluetooth firmware were present. Command + Option + O + F on bootup will allow you to enter a firmware command dialog. From there, type "reset-nvram" and "reset-all". Also, "Command + Option + P + R" on bootup will reset the PRAM, which records certain system-wide configuration settings." [http://www.newartisans.com/johnw/MacTips.html] [b]iFrog Behaviour:[/b] Summary: The Command light doesn't stop blinking. How do I get it to stop? [dahowe] Symptoms: No matter what I press, the LED next to the Apple Command symbol on the iFrog will not stop flashing. What to do: The Command light should stop blinking by pressing the command key again (Space+U). An alternative method to stop the command light blinking is to press the Symbol Key, then press Number+I (APP HOLD) [tychova] Summary: The Apple Command key is staying active. [JeffOrbit. Breadman] Symptoms: I do one command function but when I press the next key, I get another command intead of the letter. What to do: This is a bug in the iFrog, found when using a left handed iFrog when used on OS X 10.3.5. Contact Linda to get your iFrog replaced. [Linda] Summary: My Macintosh OS X computer keeps beeping when I use numbers. [JeffOrbit, Denounden] Symptoms: I press the NUMBER key to enter number mode, but the iFrog seems to be sending an unrecognised character to the Macintosh. What to do: There was a bug on a few left handed iFrogs. Read http://frogpad.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=215 to check if you have similar symptoms and for instructions on arranging a replacement. Summary: The light on the Enter key doesn't work. [Hogo] Symptoms: No matter what keys I press, I can't get the light on the Enter key to light up. What to do: That light isn't meant to light up on your version of the iFrog. The keypad layout is symmetrical so the same physical unit can be used for both left and right handed versions, and on the other handed version, the position of your Enter key corresponds to the number key whose light does light up.
